Yiwu Small Commodity Industry Cluster listed on”China Top 100 Industry Clusters”

The list of “China (mainland) Top 100 Industry Clusters” was released in Shanghai on September 3 . And Yiwu Small Commodity Industry Cluster was honored as one of them.

Industry cluster is a modern centralization mode for China’s industries. It reaches a certain scale and owns a sound supporting system, a complete industry chain, as well as standard service from the government .

The elected 100 industry clusters fully represent the international competitiveness and regional characteristics of China-made products that have been developed over the past 30 years since the policy of reform and opening-up was carried out in the main land . Of the 100 industry clusters, ninety-nine are engaged in manufacture and one in modern service . Undoubtedly, industry cluster has become an attractive view in the regional economic development of China . It is learned that the Institute of Industrial Economics attached to Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has another move after the release of “China Top 100 Industry Clusters” - to popularize this regional economic development mode all over the country through the publication of series of books in this aspect .

　　Most of the industry clusters on the list are located in China’s coastal area in the geographical distribution . About forty of them come from places of Zhejiang Province, including Yiwu, Wenzhou and Haining . And next to Zhejiang, Guangdong Province boasts 21. Besides, IT and steel industry clusters from Beijing and Shanghai have also been ranked among those 100 in dustry clusters.

The economy of industry clusters in Zhejiang Province accounts for 50% of Its total GDP. According to the chief of the Industrial Economy Department FengFei in the Development Research Center of the State Council, Zhejiang Province outshines others in the development of industry clusters in the mainland, which has much to do with its local small and medium enterprises’　courage to explore the international market .
