Yiwu market has become an important bridgehead for sino-Africa trade. It is said that some 50,000 business people come to Yiwu from Africa every year, and there are about 1,000 Africans living permanently in this city. Among the over 200 overseas students in Yiwu Industrial and Commercial College, 43 percent are from African countries.

Africa is a key trade partner of Yiwu According to the statistics from Yiwu Foreign Service Center, there are over 360 permanent African trading mechanics and more than 1,000 resident African merchants living in the city. Yiwu's main exports to Africa are textiles and toys, which are delivered to 17 countries including Algeria and Ghana.

In recent years, African goods are pouring into Yiwu as well. The African goods exhibition enter opened this year in the International Trade Mart has become a window for 48 African countries to display and trade their commodities. It is learned that the center has so far introduced typical African products from 13 African countries, including bronze ware in Benin, ebony in Tanzania, diamond ornament in South Africa, stone carving in Zimbabwe, and musical instrumentin Mozambique.
