It was learned recently from the organizing committee of 2009 China Yiwu Cultural Fair that this fair will include the first national pen drawing show, where Yiwu citizens could appreciate about 50 wonderful pen drawings created by 18 painters from 11 provinces nationwide at that moment. The pen drawings show, organized by the retired officials of the Ministry of Railways, will attract Hu Tailiang , a Yiwu painter working in Beijing, to demonstrate his wonderful skills to Yiwu people . According to the introduction, Hu has been passionate about painting ever since his childhood and created excellent pen drawing series on the subjects of Beijing alleys, people and steam engines . Most of his works are focused on Beijin galleys, which are displayed through delicate brushwork,
exquisite drawing, harmonious composition, and skillful contrast between light and dark, giving a strong sense of high quality . Those drawings look like old photos .
Hu was very excited when talking about this Yiwu Cultural Fair . He said that as soon as he received the invitation from the organizing committee of the cultural fair, he contacted several famous pen drawing painters and decided to hold an excellent pen drawing show. Hu hopes the introduction of pen drawing to Yiwu and its local development could help to improve the city’s cultural level. To get well-prepared for the 2009 Yiwu Cultural Fair, Hu has been creating the pen drawing series named My Fantastic Hometown - Yiwu in these days . His first piece of the series, which is about the woodcarving of lions in the Huangshan Eight-side Hall, has been finished after more than 100 hours of careful drawing .
The age-old appearance of the woodcarving, the looks of lions and the texture of the wood are all fully displayed in this drawing. Hu said that he would draw more pictures about Yiwu to show his strong yearning toward hometown.
